dr who

I became a Dr. Who fan a couple of years ago when the SciFi channel started showing the new series. Dr. Who goes back to the early 60's and though I've tried to watch a few clips of episodes on youtube, I can't say I was a fan of the early years.

I was instantly grabbed up by the 9th Doctor played by Christopher Eccleston and was horrified to find out that at the end of his first year run he was going to regenerate into some other Dr. My God, NooOoOOo!!!!!! A 10th Doctor? NO!!! Who could be better as the Doctor!?!?

As it turns out, David Tennant...for five seasons. Now we have to say bubye to him (dammit) and say hello to the 11th Doctor. Before watching this I was doing the whole deja vu thing thinking no one can even come close to Tennant. I was saying things like "I don't care who they put in it, it just won't be the same" and "Gawd, they always ruin a good thing" and "I doubt I'll ever watch it again!" But, I watched this preview and now I'm saying things like "Oh, ok. I'll give it a whirl, but don't expect me to love it as much!"

Here's a quick article from the UK Daily Mail about the ending of the 10th Doctor. You can watch the vid there too, or you can just check it out below.

  1. oh my goodness! I'm a huge fan of Dr. Who myself and I hafta say I felt the same way when Christopher Eccleston regenerated! Then I became enthralled with David Tennant and his on screen relationship with Billie Piper. I watched the 2009 Christmas special (I think the name is End of Time) back in January and literally cried (I'm not going to say why unless you've seen it cause it's a huge spoiler!)

But seriously!! So glad to finally find someone who loves Dr. Who as much as me!!

  2. Omg Amber, I cry every single time I see that episode. I never watched the original series, but I cannot look away from the new one. I cannot imagine what this new guy will do but the previews actually seem quite promising. I'm hopeful, but will still love and watch the 9th & 10th anyway!

  3. Yeah, I don't care for the older eppys. Just 9th, 10th, and maybe 11th. Is it just me or does the dr seem to be getting younger and younger every time he regenerates?

I feel as though me and you are going to have a lot to talk about!! I'm so ready for the new season; it's eating at me!!

    Ever heard of www.whofic.com?
It's a really cool fanfic site.

  4. He does seem to be getting younger.. and this time maybe not quite as good looking. lol.

We don't get BBC America channel, only the On Demand so we are really at their mercy. They have their prog schedule up through 4/4 and it's only the 1 hour specials. :(

I have been keeping my eye on the dvds for ages hoping they will miraculously plummet in price to something I can afford. So far no such. /sigh.

  5. I agree on the dvd prices. I don't think we get the BBC channel either, but I haven't quite researched it. I usually watch it from Hulu or Youtube.

And I also agree about the handsomeness of the 11th... I don't quite see it.

All this talk has made me want to watch the End of Time again... le sigh. Let's just say, I know what I'm doing tomorrow!!
